Unpleasant News

#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Tue May 20, 2003 10:36 pm

I believe that everyone understands that the one thing we prize most on STORM2K is the feeling of family and friendship. Unfortunately, we have had a situation over the last week going on behind the scenes here and in public on TWC. In spite of our best efforts to calm the situation it has only gotten worse. As a result of their actions, TropicalWxWatcher, Kevin_Wx and Supercane have been permanently banned from the board. This is not an action we take lightly but do so in order to preserve the atmosphere here that we enjoy. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact one of the Administrators or Moderators via PM.

I'm so sorry to hear that Marshall...I like those young men very much; but know what's been going on, and on several boards...a lot of hostility.

I'm in a bad situation...because good friends of mine are on opposite sides of this...
I'm going to pray for all involved that tempers will cool, and the hurt and ill feelings will be resolved.

I know you'll had a very difficult decision Marshall....I'm glad it wasn't mine to make.

God Bless,
Perry

Josh we have a great team assembled to cover the hurricane season in all aspects so those 3 people dont do us any harm to the tropical team with their absence. :)

Heck, you'll even have me here...and I'm a great forecaster (LOL!).

Of course, my forecasting methods are a little unorthodox....

For example, if I forecast a direct hit on Miami, it means everyone in Bermuda should evacuate ASAP; and if I forecast a "fish" with NO CHANCE of reaching land -- everyone from Maine to Texas should board up and start saying their prayers

O no. Sadly b/c i rarely visit the tropics section i didn't get to know them...perhaps that was a good thing, b/c i'd hate to lose friends. Sorry about their loss...and i hope we can learn from these things. Darn and supercane was a NC'er too!!!

I didn't know what happened, but I trust that the team here at Storm2K has made the right decision. :)

I'm sorry to hear that this occurred, but you did what you needed to do to preserve the integrity of the board!

If I may add, they still add their discussions on WxChat. So, if you don't wanna go to TWC(who does? lol), and view their forecast, they are still at WxChat. :)

Perry, I feel the exact same way. You know what's worse though?? When I first came to Bob's chatroom back in April 2002, TWW and cycloneye were the first people I met, and they seemed like such good friends, and were even on the same forecasting team! And now this. Such a shame. I don't know who started this mess, and I don't care. What I want is for things to be back to normal.

It's times like these that make me glad I was relieved of my mod duties...

No one enjoys times like these, least of all the Admin and Moderator team! If we are to preserve this as a place of enjoyment for all, everyone has to abide by the rules. Those that can't need to go elsewhere. That's not being mean that's just the way it is here at STORM2K.

I don't know what the situation was and really wasn't aware of anything.
This is a total surprise to me.

Although, they are an unfortunate loss, we still have a bunch of forecasters here at Storm2k that will get us through the upcoming tropical season

I don't believe that. I don't get a chance to get in here on Wednesdays, so I had no clue what happened. I understand that this action was required though.
