Suggestion-Forecast Contest

#1 Postby David » Wed May 28, 2003 4:01 pm

Since the "fall" of WWBB with their server, Kevin(Martinsville Wx) will probably quit the forecasting contest at Wright-Weather. Therefore, he wants to know, if admins agree, if anyone would like to participate.

If admins like this idea, you would probably want to make a seperate forum for these contests.

There are 2 kinds, weekly and daily. Weekly contest is a contest where you forecast for the 1 location of your choice for 5 days in advance. These usually are posted on Saturday, and end at midnight Sunday's. The daily one is where you forecast for 5 cities, 4 nationwide, and 1 of your choice, the day before.

If we set this up here, would you participate? Please vote. I just noticed that I cannot set up polls, so if you would participate, please post a "yes" or "no".

Admins, if you need anymore info, please PM myself or Kevin at WxChat, or here.

Thanks!!

David

I like the idea David. We probably wouldn't set up a forum just for this but I see no reason why it couldn't be done in one of the existing weather forums :-) Just ost a new topic for each contest. :-)

I would prefer a forum to make it easier. How about I test it for 1 week (that would be June 9-13) and if it goes over well you create a separate forum for it? Just a suggestion, it's your board.

Can you explain why you would need a whole new forum for it?

Mainly just to keep it better organized and so it doesn't intertwine with other threads. But if you don't want to create a new forum I understand. :)

Guess not. :( Well, I'll try it for one week (the second week of June) in the Links, Quizzes, and Tutorials forum and then decide whether or not to continue it.

It would make sense if the Forecast Contest would at least do alright. This board was create in early October and members joined through the last month of the 2002 Hurricane Season, and continued through Decemver to now (May)

There have been other discussions on weather issues, off-topic is doing really well and so is the Fun & Games forum.

I think many of us will be interested to see how it does. :)
