Can someone tell me how to read the dorvak #'s and what they are and how it works, and could tell me the site where you get them off of. Thanx.

There are a couple to get them from. The main one available to the public is SAB's. TAFB (at TPC/NHC) also do internal fixes which they don't disseminate to the public, while AFWA, which previously did them, has had to stop. CPHC also issues sat fixes on storms within their area.

What they are: They are satellite intensity estimates of active systems. You will find on the boards references to "T-numbers" (Dvorak method) and "ST-numbers" (Hebert-Poteat method, for subtrops).

For other basins, various RSMCs adjust this scale for their own use. Meteo France (Southwest Indian Ocean) adjusts it by 0.88 for 10-minutes (according to Gary Padgett), while JMA pegs their own Dvorak scale as follows:
