Wave Amplitude?

#1 Postby DrewFL » Wed Aug 08, 2007 8:56 am

I would appreciate a definition of Tropical Wave Amplitude.
Also is there any correlation to potential development of a wave based on the amplitude.
TIA.

Amplitude is basically how far the wave extends in a north-south direction.

In general, a larger amplitude wave has more energy. Maybe one of the mets can answer whether that actually translates into a higher probability of development.
