Building my own Google Earth Recon Images

#1 Postby wjs3 » Sun Sep 09, 2007 8:40 am

Hi:

I have been shamelessly stealing the google earth images that people post in the recon threads (joining satellite imagery, etc with the fixes, HDOBs, etc) and sharing them with friends/colleagues of mine.

I'd like to learn (and teach others) how to do this on my own, and I wondered whether anyone can walk me through how to do it. I have no experience at all with Google Earth, but would love to create those kinds of images.

thanks

You can add a static satellite pic in GE by choosing the Add Image Overlay command (right-click in the places list) or choose Image Overlay in the Add menu.

Then just select the image (jpg, gif, png). It appears on the globe. You drag the image by the center + and resize it with the -| handles on the sides and corners.

If you want to place an active image on the globe, use Add Network Link and paste a URL in the Link box.

Hope that gets you started.
