She looks even worse now. She has the look of when dry air gets into the core. The pressure should be starting to rise soon and seems her weakening phase has already begun. Unless she can get her act together tonight she might just be a strong tropical storm when she hits Bermuda.

Pressure dropped a little more to 975 (can't tell if there is a wind adjustment).

Is the 975 correct or does it need to be adjusted downward?

With the storm moving at about 12kt, that is to be expected with an 80-85kt storm. It matches up well with the 96kt on the NE Quad.

That would be incorrect. Forward speed of the hurricane is not added to the measured wind velocity. The wind velocity is ground-relative, so the speed of the hurricane is already taken into account.

Hurricane winds on the SE side as well...76kt reported...despite its poor look, I still think it is gaining strength.

I think it will go down at 974mb. The surface winds were 5kt so it is a coin toss which way to go.

I believe that's what he is saying . . . the winds are at 96kts FL on one side and subtract 12kts for the forward storm motion on that side, and another 12kts for the countering of it on the other side, and you get 72kt FL winds.
At the surface, it's 85kt winds, -12 for that side, -12 for the other side, or ~61kt surface winds on the western half.

I believe I have that right, correct?

No, generally the winds aren't rounded for the adjustments. If it isn't 10kts+, the vast majority of the time the pressure isn't changed.
