cute. I think this "wobble" may be significant down the road as far as a possible stall and intensity when it finally gets moving NE towards us. We shall see in the next few hours how far NW it wobbles or heads. If you want to see how vulnerable Cozumel is to a Cat. 5 look at the island on Google Earth....I imagine there will be a catastrophic storm surge over the city considering the direction of the wind out of the western eye wall. Beautiful area..such a shame.

satellite estimates continue to indicate weakening, though I'd really like to know what in God's name SSD is seeing

The west side of the storm is finally starting to show signs of life again.

The only thing that I could see that might be "weakening" is the slight loss of convective symmetry in the past few hours, but that's hardly significant since the oranges maintained their coverage and the reds only expanded to cause dissymmetry.

If you click to get the full sized Wilma image you can see some of the patterns developing in the eye.

Yes, oddly enough, the eye is pretty much right in the center of the CDO again. Boy, if this was fully over water still....hmmmm.... :?:

Use the full-sized NRL image for that.

actually to me it looks pretty good....deep convection all the way around the eye, cold cloud tops, and there seems to be nothing constricting outflow in the western quad like early this morn...
