I couldn't find anywhere on the website to have the Storm2k Weather Sticker. I noticed it is a part of Ham Weather. Do I have to have a certain # of posts or certification to be able to use that?

It's funny the direction this thread went. Now back to Central Florida and specifically Deltona. According to my sources (I am a net admin for AT&T)Deltona's phone service should be restored by tomorrow. (Give or take 72 hours) I was able to do a trace to my wifes parents house in Deltona and identify which telephone poles needed to be replaced. Chad lives within a mile of them. There is alot that needs replacing. They where scheduled to start work at 7:00 am edt this morning. Like I said allow a few days for work to be completed. Power, they lost 72 miles of main feeders that feed the area and there are litterally hundreds of linemen working that issue. I will keep you updated. All of our family lives in Central Florida and we lived there for 20 years.........

Chad.......glad you survived Charley. They bring so much excitement with them and are a wonder to behold but, after they're gone......we have to live with their aftermath.

If there is a positive side to any of this......it really, really, really makes you appreciate electricity :D

We used to have a camp in the Atchafayala Basin. The only way you could get to it was by boat. At night it was "pitch black". Needless to say, we had no electricity and no running water. We made the best of it, enjoyed it, and learned to greatly appreciate the small luxuries when we returned home.

Oh, I forgot to add......can't wait to see the pictures!!!!!!

I'll have to look at all of them closer tomorrow. But notice #19 in Group 1 -- the house with boarded up windows lost shingles, but not the whole roof.

Awesome pics! Thanks for posting those!

WOW - again It's just incredible the amount of debris that flies around in the air - all travelling at over 100mph too!

For me, they were absolutely the most convincing arguments for evacuating when another storm heads our way. ;)

The pictures say it all - devastation. Even homes left with some area's intact, the rest of those houses are heavily damaged. The picture with street names spray painted on pavement, since signs were lost, is a sobering one.

Thanks for posting this link.

Wonder how much damage was due to projectiles blowing through the air at over 100 mph. Wood, metal sheets, etc. must've been like missles.

PRELIMINARY Personal Hurricane Charley storm report

#2340 Postby Josephine96 » Thu Aug 19, 2004 12:03 pm

Hurricane Charley came on shore in SW Florida on the afternoon of Friday the 13th of August 2004. He destroyed parts of Punta Gorda and then began his assault on the local area. Including the area I live in of Kissimmee/St Cloud. Here is a look at some of my own personal damage reports from the naked eye.

PRELIMINARY HURRICANE CHARLEY STORM REPORT
THURSDAY AUGUST 19TH 2004
NJN WEATHER CENTER

CITY LOCATION TYPE OF DAMAGE
Kissimmee/Main St Historic Theatre destroyed by winds
Kissimmee/192 Numerous Traffic Lights knocked off poles
Kissimmee/192 Chevron gas station awning lifted up, later collapsed
Kissimmee/John Young Pkwy. Heavy Tree Damage at 1st Baptist Church
Kissimmee/ BVL Numerous Roof Damages
Kissimmee/BVL Gas Station sign picked up and thrown probably about a 1/4 mile
Kissimmee/ all over Numerous Signs blasted out
Kissimmee/ Lakeside Estates Power Lines down, some crashed into houses
Kissimmee/Valencia CC Trees blocking college entrance and exit
Kissimmee/ BVL Reported Tor touchdown at Wal Mart store

St Cloud 10th St.. Numerous mobile homes damaged or destroyed
St. Cloud 192 Heavy Damage to restaurant signs, some blown down by strong winds
St Cloud St Cloud Hospital Part of roof ripped off

A city wide curfew remains in effect for the city of Kissimmee, this is only a preliminary report and a full report with an article above will be published when my power is restored. Judging by the damage.. I believe Charley was a strong Cat 2.. borderline Cat 3 when he came through here
