In 1973 when the oil crisis hit I was working at a gas station while in High School. The cars would line up at the pumps till the line of cars stretched out on to the highway and around the corner from the station. Gas at that time was like 39 cent a gallon. It quickly went up to almost 2 daollars agallon then but went back down to under a dollar when it was over with. It never went back down to what it was when the oil crisis began. It was like this at every gastation in the nation when it hit.

Whether the action we took in Iraq is legitimate or not, it does have a major effect on the oil supplies in the world., iraq sits atop the largest known oil reserve in the world. It's no wonder prices have shot up since it was taken offline. Even producing only a small percentage of its potential, as it was under the corrupt so-called "Oil for Food" program, it met ~5% of the world's oil demand.
