Needing computer advice (re: EA sports game causing problems

A few days ago, I purchased a new Toshiba notebook (laptop) computer.....

All seemed to be working well until two evenings ago.....when as I attempted to install "Tiger Woods golf 2005", the second of three installation disks "froze". After a few moments of nothing, I recieved an error message stating the softward had an error.....and a report was being sent to Microsoft.

Since then, I've been unable to install anything else; I put in an installation disk and nothing happens. It's apparently some type of hardware issue (I keep seeing messages to that effect).....but even more alarming, whatever happened is affecting OTHER programs I've installed that WERE working perfectly BEFORE I attempted to install the EA golf game. An aquarium screensaver now only displays a blue screen; when I deleted the file and attempted to re-install the screensaver, nothing worked. This evening my flight simulator started going crazy.....first the disk was ejected.....then the screen froze. I've heard stories about Weatherbug causing these type of problems, but thought I could depend on EA Sports (I have several of their tv Xbox games and have never had any problems whatsoever).

Has anyone else experienced this type problem with Tiger Woods golf 2005 or any other type of game.....and if so, how did you resolve it. I'm afraid to install anything until this is fixed (including hookup of my new Lexmark printer/scanner/copier; afraid whatever happened to my screensaver and flight simulator will affect the printer....which uses a disk as part of installation).

Any assistance or info you provide will be greatly appreciated

FYI: I've tried repeatedly to "un-install" Tiger Woods 2005 file, but it's still there (even though the "Wizard" says it's gone

Are you running XP and if so, have you tried to restore to a date previous to your "Tiger" load?

I too had the SAME problem, I'm running Windows XP.....I took TIGER off like Phil Michelson did to him at the tourney last week

If it's possible I'd suggest backing up your needed files and formating (if your at your last hope).. But often to people find formating too much of a mission .. With all the re-installing etc

First, go with the System Restore that comes on the XP system. Go to Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tools>System Restore. Select the "Restore to an earlier date" option, and choose a date on the calendar that is before the installation occured. Click proceed. It will do the restore, but the computer restarts itself at the end to finish the restore. When it comes back up (before you get the icons and start bar back up), it should pop up and say something to the effect of "Your system has been restored" and show the date restored to.

Doing this will completely reset your settings back to what they were on the selected date. This will remove any software installed between now and then, (or add it back if it was removed) as well as background settings, and most other settings. It will not alter files that you have created that are not associated with any of the programs or settings, so anything you created in Word (for example) would not be touched.

This should work, and your problem may have been that the laptop did not meet the minimum system requirements that are specified for the software (on the outside of the box or in the front of the manual). If your system doesn't meet the requirements, then there is nothing you can do about this but try it on another computer.
