Help! Need Info About Erie, PA

#1 Postby DoctorHurricane2003 » Mon Feb 13, 2006 11:10 pm

Does anyone here know anything about Erie? Safe parts of town? Bad parts?

I ask because I may be taking my summer classes at Penn State-Erie to save on money. Please help ASAP! Thanks! :D

I dont know of any bad parts...you will just have to get use to the "smell of the week". I can find out more if you need to know because my wife and I had a couple of friends that went to school in Erie.

Dreary Erie! It's an older industrial city. The downtown is pretty gray and undistinguished. I do not hear about a lot of crime, but you could look up the crime reports. Like most cities, most of the better-off people live outside of the city. I've heard that the city proper is right on the lake and doesn't get all that much lake-effect snow. If you go 5 miles away from the lake, you're out in the suburbs and thats where they get hammered with LEF Snow. I can't tell you where PSU Erie is.

Thanks guys!

PSU Erie is at 5091 Station Road out in the East part of town. Right now I'm looking at Granada on Kuntz Road and University Gate Apartments at 5416 E Lake Road. Not sure of anyone else yet.

Yes, the smell of the week. The couple of friends that went to school up there said that each day or week or so, a different smell would take over the city. Most of the time it was not a pleasant smell either.

Fun...lol.

Do you know if by chance the area around General Electric in Lawrence Park Township is okay?
