Have You Forgotten?

#1 Postby brunota2003 » Fri Mar 31, 2006 1:03 pm

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Now I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten? I certainly havent, one of my moms friends son was working as a cleaning crew in the WTC, they chose who stayed on the bottom and who went up top to start cleaning. He got chosen to start cleaning from the bottom. The other crew and several of his friends left to go start at the top. about 1/2 hour or so later the first tower got hit. They felt the explosion rattle thru the building as the first plane hit the tower beside the one they were in. He ran out to see what happened and watched as the second plane came in and hit his tower. Needless to say he never saw his friends, alive anyways, again. He thanks god everyday for being chosen to start at the bottom. Do you have any story to share of this horrible day?

Good song, but it can open up a can of worms. So, just a reminder - stick to the events of 9/11 and stories about that day.

Do NOT turn it in to a political argument.

No, I haven't forgotten. I posted that in the 9/11 thread I started earlier this morning.

Saw live reports and footage on GMA on that day 9/11/01...and then later at work the radio was on most of the day...seemed so surreal, also, hearing the reports of the Pentagon being hit...and then Flight 93 crashing in that PA field.

My folks, sister and I who lived in se NY state in 1987...and along with some relatives from Ohio and Indiana did some sight-seeing that spring of '87 in NYC and one of the places we went to was the World Trade Center and stood atop on the roof deck of one of the buildings taking in the view of the skyline, the city's borroughs, Manhattan Harbor, etc. And then, too, when you watch the movie "Home Alone 2: Lost In New York" (1992) ...and the scene where Kevin McAllister is standing atop one of the tower's roof decks, too, sends chills through you...as just 9 years later after that movie debuted...the UNthinkable happened.
