Well, being a professional educator (ok, PC term for teacher), for a quarter-century is hardly the way to a lucrative lifestyle; however there are things that can make me feel wealthy beyond measure. In teaching I have the opportunity to touch the lives of literally thousands of those who will one day be the movers and shakers in our society. Having played a role, however miniscule, in the molding of these young spirits has an incalculable worth. When I see the little light bulbs go off, when I sense a genuine motivation and enthusiasm for learning and appreciation for the fruits of my labors; when I sense that a milestone in development has been crossed and that I have played a role in aiding that; when I have former students inviting me to their college graduations, marriages, and coming to see me years after they've left the environs of my classroom--some from every corner of the country--well, these are but a few of the things that make me feel wealthier than Midas could ever dream of being.

The whole point of my post was that "wealth" like "rich" has a plethora of interpretations, and that dollar value is but one of them; personally, health, self-satisfaction, family, friends, happiness, and love are all in a much higher plane of relevance in determining actual wealth. Monetary wealth is certainly nice; but I'll take the aforementioned first--then work on that elusive dollar!

No I am not rich by no means. I live in a decent house but not a mansion. Most people here live in house over 2000 sq feet and drive big nice cars. I just recently brought a used honda civic 2002. I live from paycheck to paycheck. Not rich in Fairhope!
