Steve,

Your reply reminds me of those commercials....

Wendy's Biggie Fries - 99 cents.
1 gallon of gas - an arm and leg.
Base price of 2006 Honda Civic - $20,840
10 Minutes at S2K - priceless.

Hoping you can find more 10 minute breaks Bronnie!

Bron... I never really had a chance to say godspeed on your new adventure.... (I was deployed at the time)

I know what you mean about Homesickness... I was away from my family without a real phone conversation (however had internet).... for about 7 months... some days it felt like eternity. That deployment taught me how to be myself and perservere through the tough times. Hopefully you will do the same.

Good Luck with everything back home. BE SAFE!

Thanks for all the "hellos"....

Shannon you should be really proud of your commitment to your nation (I know I am proud of you)!

Things here are so very different from when I grew up here (for those of you who dont know, I had to move back to South Africa). It seems this nation of ours has been through so much and there is so much confusion, it is just that I get such a sense of people not knowing who they are here. Much of the wonderful things that came with democracy and freedom seem to have been forgotten and there is an undertone of the need for revenge for past actions. People here are tring to find themselves and in the process are loosing there true identeties. It is very sad to see, young Africans who cant speak there own native toungues because English is what the rest of the democratic world speaks, these children are loosing there cultures very fast in an attempt to "fit in" hence as I mentioned there seems to be much confusion.
There is a lot of tension here... it is not really spoken of, but I feel it even driving my son to school. Unfortunately I think a lot of that comes from the extremes in this society, the rich are VERY rich and the poor are dirt poor and cant get out of that position. That in turn has given this place a very serious violent crime element. (point in case) at the moment there are strikes going on in all the cities because security guards are seeking higher wages (how these poor people live on such a frugal amount of money is beyond me).... anyway, the strikes turn from a good cause into violent and uncontrollable anarchy. My husbands employees wear uniforms, it has the companies logo on the shirt pocket. On Friday 3 of them were shot in the backs because they were mistaken for security guards in uniform. These poor innocent people have taken a good cause and are basically shooting anyone who will not participate in there actions, or if you are an innocent bystander, welll too bad for you.

I just pray the Lord will raise up some strong and honest leaders here, please remember this little part of the world in your own prayer time and in your churches as well. Africa needs intervention.... Prayerful intervention on a grand scale.

Amanzi. How unsettling it must be to find yourself "at home" yet in a place so unsettled and unsettling. Do you have much time with your mother there? And how did it go when she first met your newest addition, your daughter?

We find ourselves at odds with so many politicians here in this country, and indeed there are some bad seeds. But the importance of strong leaders with a vision for a better tomorrow is never dismissed as unimportant here. We just keep trying to make it better.

In your country, deception and corruption only serve to break apart relationships among the various peoples who live there. Divine intervention is a guiding principal that can help, but it is principaled leadership and those who believe that a strong South Africa can develop opportunity for many, not just a few, which will ultimately begin to heal the distrust and anger.

Our best to you and your family, and may your little ones learn about love and trust and the value of the different cultures in their daily contact with others. Children do better than adults, you know.

Be safe, and thanks for the update.

My prayers are definitely with you and your family, Bronnie. We do take our own
country for granted, here, don't we? It's so good to hear from you. May God
keep you and your family wrapped in His loving arms.
