As for child pornography charges in 2002, the local prosecutor admitted that a child stuff tape accidentally became included in evidence against Reubens. The tape was actually part of another case. They did, however, seize a collection of vintage nudes, which is not considered pornography, whether it includes people under 18 or not. Just to avoid the chance of a bad jury result, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor.

I knew there was some later charge. I guess like the Jackson Imbroglio, we'll never know the particulars; but the possibilities make me cringe. I firmly believe in an individual's right to seek whatever "pleasures" themselves in the privacy of their own rooms--with a codicil that it not involve either a minor or an unwilling participant--but I d think this guy was a little over the edge... he gave me the creeps too. Glad my kids were just a little too old when he became really popular. I thought he made his debut as a comedian of some sort, which I thought was a novel shtick, beyond that it was just plain weird. JMO

I think a lot of people never knew that "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" was originally a stage performance meant only for adults. The name itself has sexual overtones. Reubens and company never planned to gear it to kids, but someone from CBS liked the idea and didn't "get it." So, it's not like Reubens was going to turn down a TV deal.

Watching stuff does not qualify one as a pervert.

The inside of an adult theater isn't truly a "public" place. There are places where it's acceptable to be nude in front of others, and usually these places qualify.

Pee-Wee got a raw deal. He's a strange bird, but hads not been shown to be a pervert.

Further, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is one of the funniest movies of all time!
