What one item for your house did you buy that you are sorry for? You just purchased the wrong thing.
Me... my stainless steel frig..... it shows everything, drips too. I have to clean it good every day. A big mistake.

LOL @ your stainless fridge. The middle school's cafeteria/kitchen where I worked this past year is only 8 years old. Very nice, all stainless, even the freezer/fridge wall is completely stainless. At first I told my coworkers I'd love a brand new kitchen, all in stainless. They just smiled. Then as we switched jobs each month, I'd have my turn at keep these surfaces finger print free. Let's just say it's a challenge and downright impossible! One tip they've tried is after cleaning it with a stainless spray cleaner (industustrial product, nothing I've seen before), they wipe it down with babyoil. Then come back with a clean, dry dust rag. The oil does remove fingerprints. Until the next day! LOL We did this when the health inspector was due to arrive.
When we bought a new fridge 3 years ago, I went with all black. At first I thought it would be a pain to keep clean and after my work experience with stainless, I'm really glad I chose black. It was a shock at first though, everytime I'd look in at my kitchen. My choices were white, off white (which looked yellow) or black. I'm happy with it now.
The only furniture purchase I know we've regretted was when we gave away our queen sized waterbed and bought a queen sized mattress. Well, my hubby's old waterbed was actually the equivalent of a king sized regular mattress. We put up with the smaller bed until the friend who took our old waterbed was giving it away. And offered it back to us. We took it, in a heartbeat (it didn't help his sore back). We made the queen bed a guest bed, and in time it went to our oldest daughter. We'll never give our waterbed up now.....love it! It's so beat up looking too.....LOL! But so warm in the winter and nice to come back to after a trip.

They use a spray cleaner at work. I can check it when I start back in August. My boss has us wash all surfaces down with a squirt of Dawn dishsoap in a bucket of hot water. Then we dry the surfaces with a dry towel. Dawn does work really well. You could always try that. That's a cheap option.
The spray they've used is only once or twice a month, not general cleaning. But if you found one that works really well, you could use it right before entertaining.
This waterbed is my husband's old bed, he bought right after graduating from college. We just love it. The kids love it when they're sick, I have to boot them out. And of course our Golden Retriever loves it, she rolls all over it, getting her scent on everything. So cute to see all four of her paws in the air and she's snoozing.

I have all stainless steel appliances and I LOVE them. My daughter sent me the cleaner that I use. It's terrific. I'll get the name when I get home.
I bought the couch in my livingroom on a whim and because it looked nice. Turns out it's the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I have. Good thing most people sit in the family room to watch TV and visit.
