There is something missing here.
In this country, a small handful of radical fundamentalists crashed 4 jetliners killing thousands of Americans and we have spent billions of dollars, created thousands of jobs, and initiated a cabinet-level position to help protect the interests of our citizens in many many ways.
Air piracy has been given great priority, and whether you feel safe flying these days or not, we in this country value each other's lives so much that we have done all these things to help assure that a repeat will not occur.
Now..I realize that someone can get on a bus with bombs under their clothing and blow themselves up a lot easier than you can enter a terminal and board a jetliner.
But even my little mind can think of a variety of steps that could be taken to greatly reduce the risk of homicides on busses. The technology is there to greatly help. Busses must stop and go and pick up people. In this country we would have instituted MAJOR new steps to protect the interests of the passengers, the drivers, and public transportation in general....probably almost to the point of gridlock!
And yes...if you eliminate the possiblity of explosives getting ON the bus, someone can still drive INTO the bus or do other things to the detriment of the service.
Maybe there is much more that is being done than I realize, but can you imagine what sorts of hoops we'd have to jump through just to ride a bus if they were being blown up as frequently as they are in the small country of Israel?

Yes, Steve, if we instituted the same techniques of fighting
terrorism on buses than we do at airports, it would take
a lot longer to hit the road, but, just as frequent flyers know,
it would make for a more safe travel itenerary. You'd think
that Israel would have learned that, by now. But, then, I
am just chattering and not riding the bus.

Were bus bombings something we would have to face here in our country, I am sure our government would step up to the plate and secure our safety, right quick at that.
I have often wondered myself why they don't do more Israel to protect their citizens against such repeated atrocities.
Just another reason to be thankful we live in America.
