Knit - Ladies Only

#1 Postby Janice » Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:03 pm

I have a beautiful Carole Little pant suit. The top is three quarter sleeved, bright floral silk with black trim. The matching pants are black knit. We are going out to dinner and are the black knit pants appropriate for summer? I would not wear this outfit during the day. I have gained 20 pounds since I quit smoking and all my clothes are too tight, but this does fit.

Help...

Janice I think that the outfit would be fabulous. Don't sweat the conventions. Go with whatever works for you.

I agree.......wear what you like! I have never dressed according to "fashion" statements, trends etc. I dress for the comfort and someone doesn't like it, I don't loose any sleep over it! 8-) BTW....didn't mean to "crash" your WOMEN ONLY thread LOL!

We are modern men. Sensitive, yet still with vestiges of beastliness.

Oh I'm the same way. I do not dress according to what is currently in fashion. First off, that's very expensive to pull off, many fashions last only a season. Example - the tiny shrug sweaters. Second, I much prefer the traditional, classic look. My last dress purchase (first in 5 years) was a black sheath, with green lining near the neck placket and armholes - very classy and worth the price. You just can't go wrong with the tried and true classic looks. Or to reply upon your own style - IMHO, Janice. My kids tease me all the time. We'll see a wild print skirt or pair of carpi's. And next to them will be a pair of khaki capri's. They are pointing to the wild prints and I'm holding the khaki's! They sigh and I smile, declaring - hey, these khaki capri's will be in style long after that crazy print skirt will be! I'm not wasting my money on one season clothes! We are not the Paris Hiltons here! Lastly, once you find "your" style, it's so easy to purchase future pieces to match your style. Currently, I'm into black, brown and khaki colors. More power to anyone who can afford to update their wardrobe each season, donating last season's clothes. I've just never been able to do that! I'm still wearing a Lands' End swimsuit I bought 6 years ago! And oh yeah - the color? Solid navy blue 2 piece,, with skirt and tankini top. LOL!!! Yeah, that's me alright - kinda boring, solid colors or monochromatic but hey, again when I do go clothes shopping, I'm so used to buying certain styles or color schemes, they all instantly blend. No crazy prints for this mom! LOL

So Janice - you wear the outfit YOU want to and remember to smile!

Well, I have several other black slacks. Some lighter and nicer material for the warm weather. The collar of the top is not knit, so I may be able to find and match another pair of pants with it that will not be so warm. I have some rayon and silky knits. I will try them and see how they look.
