UPDATE: BIRTH MONSTER ARRESTED!!!!!!
Investigators have arrested the mother of a baby abandoned last Friday on Hillebrandt Road.
Jefferson County Sheriff's investigators arrested 30 year old Kenisha Berry in connection with the case.
She was arraigned this morning before a justice of the peace and her bond was set at $20,000 on a charge of child endangerment.
The charge is a second degree felony, which carries a possible prison sentence of 2 to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
Sheriff's investigators tell us they're looking for other people they believe might have been involved in the abandonment or who have knowledge of the case, and they are following other leads.
A man taking an early morning walk last Friday discovered the newborn girl covered in ants, with bites so severe her eyes were swollen shut.
The man and his wife wrapped the baby in a blanket and took her to a hospital.
The child had been listed in guarded condition, but she's doing better, and has been given antibiotics for the bites.
She was 6 pounds,11 ounces and 19 inches long.
She is in the custody of Child Protective Services, and they are calling her "Baby Girl Doe."
Tuesday morning at 9:30, Jefferson County Judge Tom Mulvaney will hold a conservatorship hearing that could give temporary custody of the baby to a foster mother.
Sheriff Mitch Woods says, "I am pleased that we have made an arrest in connection with the case but the investigation continues. We intend on completing a thorough investigation. We are still collecting information and investigating other leads that have come in to our office."
If you have information about the case, call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department at 835-8411 or Jefferson County Crimestoppers at 724-TIPS.

(and watch Widremann will sabatoge this topic)
Sorry, but I'll be nice.
don't know either how someone could have such utter contempt or no feeling for human life. All I can say is it must start very young. Children must be taught to think this way or ingrained with it. When I had children I wanted to instill a respect for all races, people, etc. (no racist views whatsoever) and a love for all animals. Well, you know what I discovered? Children are that way anyway! Watch kids playing at a park sometime. A child playing alone digging in the sand looking longingly at a new child walking up - hi, my name is ....... and then they often just begin playing. Doesn't matter what race they are, all kids can see is another playmate. I remember my girls doing this all the time when they were 2 and up. Same with animals, if you illustrate love and respect, your kids will do the same. When hiking and we see a snake, we don't torture it, we just go around. That's just one example. I ran over a baby bird with the lawnmower in the yard a few weeks ago and felt terrible (what was a baby bird doing in the middle of the yard?). I had my dark sunglasses on and promptly took them off. My daughter knew I was upset, she was too. Sorry to get so deep here (and watch Widremann will sabatoge this topic) but I just had to reply. When I hear disturbing stories like this, I always wonder what this person's childhood was like. Kids are just good, starting out. It's when people abuse them, manipulate them, that they go wrong. Just my 2 cents.......
People are machines - very, very complicated machines. You can try to account for every contingency, but eventually, inevitably, some or all of us break and do "the wrong thing". Thus, while it is worthwhile to teach kids the right thing early on, it isn't a failsafe. And all wrong cannot be said to be derived from poor parenting. Even morals, though very useful, aren't all encompassing and have many gray areas and slippery slopes. If everyone followed a particular moral system, things would be much better, but not perfect. It's just a function of the fact that a very complicated system can produce results that absolutely cannot be predicted (and that is NOT a factor of simply not knowing enough about the system or the factors that go into it). Thus, there is no way to prevent evil, nor is there any particular outlook that a person can have that would prevent them from at some point making a wrong choice, potentially a dangerous or criminal choice. Sucks doesn't it, but we have no choice but to live with it.

I pray this has a happy ending for this child.
I've been there too SS. Years of painful medical tests, procedures, etc. But nothing hurt worse than hearing about an unwanted child.
PM me if you'd like to talk. God bless you, my friend.
