Some get well wishes for me please..

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Mon Aug 14, 2006 4:30 pm

Just thought I'd let ya know, I need some get well prayers please.

Sunday AM- I woke up about 4 am, feeling violently ill. Lets just say everything I thought was down, came up. {sorry for the details}

It actually killed me to have to call in sick yesterday for work because its my 1st absence in almost 2 years.

Yesterday.. I even thought I may go to the hospital to get checked because I was in so much pain too..

But.. from about 9pm last night, I feel better. Not quite 100%.. probably about 65-70. But far better than yesterday.

I have 3 possibilities for why I got so sick.

1. Food poisoning. {Though I am sure Wal Mart's deli fully cooks their chicken, had some Sat. night}

2. Virus= There seems to be a virus going around my stores' front end right now. I think I caught it from 1 of the girls I work with.

3. Dehydration/exhaustion: I worked my butt off on Saturday as we were slammed. Some would say I worked harder than I usually do {and I already bust my hump daily}.

Tonight take my OTC and go to sleep early because I'm working another 6am-3pm shift tomorrow :lol:

Thanks guys.. the well wishes help.. I've had a couple times today where I have had dizzy spells, but not too many aches and pains today.

Plus.. I've eaten some good stuff. Bowl of cereal at breakfast, can o soup @ lunch, and 1 of my neighbors brought over a huge plate of food for me earlier :lol:

Sounds like food poisoning to me. Viruses generally last longer than that.

Hope you feel better John!

As a former cook I think im qualified to say this: Improper handing of poultry is responsible for a LOT of food poisioning cases. Proper handling not only involves cooking it properly but keeping it refrigerated till ready to cook and NEVER EVER EVER thawing poultry at room temperature(among other things too lengthy to get into here)

Well back on topic you may have very well had food poisoning although im not sure. Next time u have symptoms like that get to an doctor pronto so u can be evaluated and started on antibiotics and IV fluid replenishment if needed.

Gtalum I agree that his symptoms were probably too short lived to be a virus. The severity of his gastrointestinal symptoms suggests it was something he ate. Of course theres no way to be certain without doing blood work.

I believe my husband had a mild case of food poisoning and I had it at least once as well. The thing with FP is it hits you so fast and there's nothing you can do about it. You feel better, eventually, when it's over but while you're sick, you are sick. You think you're dying!

I have more experience with our daughters getting sick with viruses. After they've had the usual stomach virus, they ease back into real food with applesauce, grilled cheese, plain toast or bagels, chicken soup (one does, the other is a vegetarian). Hopefully by now you're on the mend John but if your stomach is still quezzy, just eat plain foods for a while. And one food source is very beneficial after something like this - yogurt with live cultures. Organic is better, it's chock full of acidopholis.

Hope you're feeling better. At first I wanted to tease you and say - it was the Nyquill (if you took it). But then I thought, no, this isn't a joking matter. Part of this could have been b/c you were tired and run down from working so many shifts.
