Another mother...this time, CRIMINAL!

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Fri Jun 13, 2003 8:10 pm

I saw this on FoxNews; a mother sent her small child, a girl, into a store to SHOPLIFT for her; when the little girl ran to her mother, store manager in hot pursuit behind, the woman LEFT the child and drove away as fast as she could! :grrr:

And this family was not "minority", either...yet some idiot social worker questioned removing the little girl from her mother's care (????) This was on "O'Reilly Factor", FYI.

Your thoughts? You already KNOW mine... :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

You need a license to drive a car, but not to be a "parent". Some people just shouldn't have kids.

I do not understand where you are coming from by the "minority" statement.

I think it's in reference to a common prejudice that only minorities commit these type of crimes.

Thanks Marshall. I do not understand why it makes a difference what the color of the skin is in this. Regardless, there should be no question about the removal of the child from that home until the Mother gets help. There are plenty of programs that will help the Mother with food.

The more non-minorities that do these idiotic things the more it will show that minorities aren't the only individuals to commit foolish acts such as these.

I saw this on Fox News too, but it was a little earlier in the day. They showed a video of the mom (I assume) planting the shopping basket, walking out and then you saw the little girl going in to get it. You saw the mom come back into the store and point at something and run back out. Then the little girl came running out carrying the shopping basket with the manager right behind her. I guess the mom saw the manager and drove off, leaving her 7 year old daughter behind. What a poor excuse for a mom!!! Can you even imagine???

If I remember correctly, it was about $100 worth of hygiene products, not food.

Here's the story from Fox News:

A 7-year-old girl was abandoned by her mom in a grocery store Monday after a shoplifting scheme soured, and investigators have not yet been able to locate the girl's home, her mother, or two accomplices.

The botched shoplifting attempt, which was recorded by a surveillance camera, began when two women walked into a Randall’s grocery store (search) and were recognized by the manager as repeat shoplifters.

“He started watching them and then called police before anything actually occurred, so we already had an officer on the way to the scene," Sugar Land Police Det. Marshall Slot said.

The women filled a hand-carried basket with about $95 worth of hygiene products, set it down near the front door and left the store.

Then the women sent the girl into the store, but the child could not immediately locate the basket, Slot said.

"One of the adults entered the store partially and pointed out the basket," he said.

The child picked up the basket, ran outside and headed for a waiting car. But the store manager followed the girl and grabbed her before she could get inside the car, Slot said.

The women abandoned the girl and drove away in a red Chevrolet Corsica just as a police car pulled into the parking lot.

Police were not able to say if the girl's mother was one of the women who came into the store, but the child identified the driver of the car as her mother. She is now in foster care.

Slot said the girl told Children's Protective Services officials that her name is Elvia Reyes, and that her mother's name is Maria Reyes, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

"She has been able to tell us that she attends an elementary school,” Slot told the paper. “She has not been able to give us the name or her address or the neighborhood or anything like that.”

Because of her age, the girl does not face any criminal charges in connection with the attempted shoplifting.

Slot said investigators are trying to find her mother and the other two women, who are believed to be relatives.

I just watched the video again. Here's the link if you want to watch it.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if this child was placed in a loving home and adopted by parents who really appreciate the wonder of childhood.

Yes it would Pburgh. As far as the mother she kind of gives that sterilization of unfit parents topic a very good example of a woman that would fall under certain guidlines.

Yep, I agree 100%. Some people are so self centered and I believe they should keep it that way and only have themselves to think about!!!!! Nothing in this world is more important than raising a child. Such a responsibility and a privilege should be given to those that know how to GIVE.

Thanks for the info southerngale... I can't believe she got that little girl to steal hygiene stuff. Food is one thing but hygiene?!! I hope the DHS takes that little girl from that Mother.

I agree with PBurgh 100%.
