Park County Sheriff's Department says a gunman is inside Platte Canyon High School. He has said he has a bomb and is holding people hostage. Medical support has been requested. At least four area schools are on lock down.

I was just watching this on CNN. They said 2 to 4 hostages and the students at the high school and neighboring middle school have been moved to a safe area.

What in the he** is wrong with people these days? :grr:

The situation has ended... the hostage taker is dead, one hostage is critically wounded and another is fine. It sounds like it might have been a husband/wife and then a student(?). Not sure about that...

I just read that sweetpea. This guy just walked into the school and went unnoticed. I remember one time when I was in Roswell, GA and went to surprise my niece by picking her up from school. I just walked right into the school and actually had to STOP someone so they could tell me which classroom she was in and the teacher told me and walked off.

I agree, I just read that whole story. What an odd situation. When I first read this thread I thought it was a student with a gun. It was an old pervert instead. :grrr: He obviously had been thinking about this and planning it for a while. Too bad he took that girls life after police stormed the class, but I am glad he turned the gun on himself and is no longer around to do anything else. I am sure this is probably not his first dirty deed.

I couldn't believe the whole situation either. Felt like it was an episode of "Criminal Minds" or "CSI".

You're right about one thing O Town, this was not his first dirty deed, and probably didn't wanna go back to prison for it.

They probably figured that because they are a smaller town they would be safer than one of the big cities. I hate watching the news everyday!! It is so depressing.

That's horrible. I heard he had a suicide note. Not too far from Columbine. Pretty sick stuff.
