Well I have a good bit of Italian blood running through my viens and I do not like the butts, or crust of store bought sliced bread. Fresh bread and loafs are a whole different story. I love bread just not the butt of a loaf, so I don't think its the taste but more the texture, and I am not a picky eater either. I will eat pretty much anything, and try everything at least once.
I do love to sop up some oil and vinegar dressing, or clean my pasta plate with some fresh made bread too. Mmmmmm.

I think we're on the same wavelength. Though I made the assumption that we were talking about fresh, Italian bread. The kind in the paper wrapper. (That's how my family always referred to the "ends" or "heels" of the bread) Maybe I'm due for a vacation back home up North! It was actually a treat for us to eat the ends on the way to the traditional, huge, Italian Sunday dinner at my Grandmother's.
