Well, we should have known!!! My mom is particular about her tea cups as well. I couldn't even begin to tell you the times I've heard and I quote - "this china makes a good cup of tea!", either in my home or out in a restaurant. While growing up, my mom and her friends liked to shop at a flea market kind of store, called the Glass Barn. It's still in existence. I went there a few years ago! Anyway, they sell knock off ceramic brands and also ones that didn't sell well. In other words, it's pretty much the last retail stop for these dishes (glasses, baskets, clay flower pots, etc.). You can save a bundle there but my point is my mom's most favorite cups for everyday tea came from the Glass Barn, were all white, mug size, rounded on the bottom though, not a straight edge down to the counter and with a curved handle. They were really, ugly. But they were her tea mugs.......I'd see this murky, dark looking sludge brewing, tea bag hanging over the edge and ask - is your tea done yet, do you want me to take a bag out? NO, NOT YET she'd say. Yep, she drank her tea very strong back then and come to think of it, our house was very clean. Mmmmmm, wonder if I should start doing that. Anyway, your story Karan reminded me of my mom's old ugly white tea mugs.
And get this - once a week she had to bleach them with Comet cleanser. I used to think, okay she drinks this very, very strong tea and then soaks the cup in Comet? Yuck!
And one final get this - she's 82, had two angiograms, no angioplasties needed. Minimal blockage for someone her age we keep hearing. Her cardiac doctor is amazed and she laughs - must be all the tea I've had since I was a child.
Wonder how we got off onto a tea tangent....Karan, you're a bad influence on me.
Sorry, to derail this Starbucks topic.
Back to coffee!

Of ALL days
The expresso machine at SB'S DIED this morning JUST as I walked through the DOOR
The ladies behind the counter asked if I was wearing my sidearm today (I carry concealed now that I'm not in uniform anymore) and I said "Yes, why do you ask?" They looked at me with TERROR in their eyes and said, "We're SO sorry, the expresso machine died a few seconds ago!" I went into MAJOR withdrawls, spasms, double vision....and the rest of the day was pretty much the SAME way

Dennis - that was not a pretty sight, no doubt! Of all times for this to happen, just when you posted you are addicted to Starbucks!!!! You jinxed yourself....
You could make your own ya know....
That's what my BIL does. He's got this espresso maker that makes this high pitched sound and sounds awful but he likes his morning latte.
Course there is that coffee shop ambiance too.......
