Who's gonna be crazy...
and be one of the first in line on Black Friday at the store of your choice and where you starting out if you go? I'm going out but waiting for the real ads, saw the ones on a couple of black friday sites and it looks like I'm starting out at Kmart on Thanksgiving, lol, then JC Pennys on Black Friday

Here is what I'm hearing about Best Buy (here anyway). They will have Police and they will not let anybody assemble on the property prior to 4AM (store opens at 5AM). They are going to go through the line and find out what the people are there for and give them a "ticket" for that item. When the tickets are gone that's it. I'm trying to understand the virtue in this, since it would seem to send some people (like me) home once they realize the limited supply of Plasma's (IPods or whatever) are gone. Thuis isn't confirmed, but its what I've heard.

I will probably go shopping tomorrow, but am NOT so into it that I am in line before the stores open. I value my sleep.
Just looked through the ads in the papers and don't see anything (I can afford) worth getting up that early for! I am wondering if WalMart didn't put out an ad this year, or if I just didn't get that one in my newspaper? I checked online, but can't get the ad to load on my computer for some reason - maybe I will run up to the office and see if it works there later (we have DSL there - at home I still survive with dial-up).

I, NEWeatherguy, standing outside of a store at 4 a.m.? Yeah, right!
Not my thing. I do some shopping in December, late enough to avoid the Black Friday (and the weekend following it) fiasco and the last-minute shopping the week of Christmas. I love Sunday, Monday or Tuesday nights. They are not as busy.
But I must say one thing: It felt like I was bringing in the Sunday paper this morning! The paper was 20 percent news and 80 percent ads!

I will be at bestbuy. There's a camera i'd like to get my daughter and another one for my mil. Staying up till that time will be easy for me, i'm a nightowl.
Edit to add (10:00pm) The line is 1/2 way around the bestbuy building. I probably don't stand a chance of getting the cameras.
Office Depot has the same camera. It'll come out to the same price after a mail-in rebate. I can handle that!

No Black Friday for me! Yeah!!! My family agreed last year, that the enitre holiday maddness was just that ...madness. We no longer exchange gifts among the adults. Gifts are ok for the children, but limited to $20. None of the kids need any more toys, clothes, video games, etc. None of us adults need more sweaters, nicknacks, ties, wide screen TVs, jewlery, etc etc etc. The brightly wrapped budget busting boxes under a tree have nothing to do with the point of the season. We gather together for a family dinner on Christmas eve, those who attend church go together inthe morning and we spend the rest of the day with our family and friends enjoying each others company and fellowship.
We've never been happier.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.

Well, I wasn't in line at 5:00 this morning, that's for sure! I was, however, up before 5 and on the road at 6 am
. I had to drive 40 miles to "town" and aparrently missed the WalMart rush as I was in & out of there in 25 minutes with 4 of the 5 things that I wanted to get. I spent more time at the cellphone store getting my 4 year old phone that died replaced - they were BUSY!
