Holidays for the Critters

#1 Postby JenBayles » Fri Nov 24, 2006 5:05 pm

Am I the only one who puts up stockings for the 2 mutts and the cockatiel? Yeah, we never had kids of our own, so the critters have turned into our nuclear family, complete with their own stockings on the fireplace mantle. Anyone else?

We thougth about it, but Annabelle (she be a ho') LOVES socks...they make great chew toys when she can't find one of her plush, squeaky "Demo-cats".

But she also loves to sleep under the tree...

Streets, if all the ho' does is SLEEP under the tree, count yourself lucky! My mutts think the entire tree and all the ornaments are nothing but fantastic annual dog toyz.

Yes, when we lived at our old house with a fireplace we had stockings for the pups. (didn't put stuff in until "santa" came) Those were the good old days!! We still wrap presents for the pup and supervise very closely. Mommy (me) makes all the cookies now. (allergies) It's still a blast - wish I had the time to have three or four more pups.

Heck - if it was up to me - I'd have 5 or 6. :D :D

Oh, the time we thought Ax ate an ornament! That's a whole story in it's self.

My cat always got a can of premium cat food and a toy for Christmas. Plus the leftovers from dinner.

Of COURSE....they're our babies! Funny thing, we let the dogs OPEN their own presents, as God as my witness, they're WORSE than a coupla 3 year olds, they get SO excited :ggreen:

This is the time of year I really miss our old dog Travis. He knew enough to leave the presents alone until it was time to open them. He had a ball shredding all the wrappings, and knew how to unwrap his own presents without ruining the gift. What a cur! I'll never forget him, and still miss him.

We used to till the 3 real children came along. I still have all thier stockings(the 2 dogs and our old kitty), but they don't get hung anymore. No room. I do however get still buy a few toys and wrap them to put under the tree. They absoultly love getting in and being a part of all the caios here on Christmas morning.

"Her Poochness" gets her own stocking, but the treats in it are rationed out over time. She's the first open to be given a package when the gift-exchange frenzy starts. Amazingly, she'll take her gift to the back of the room and it occupies her until we're done. Then she wants to wrestle with the discarded wrapping paper and boxes. :P

My kids insist that the pets need presents - will have to go to Petco when I take the kids to do their Christmas shopping.

I am still trying to figure out how to put the tree up so that the puppy won't be able to get to it and pull it over. No ornaments or lights will be on the bottom 2 feet this year, that's for sure! And probably no presents under it until the last minute, either, since she chews on everything in sight. She knows what "no" means, but if mom isn't watching, then it doesn't count, right???

Dennis, my animals are just like yours. lol. I buy the catnip stockings for the cats. That is very comical to watch. I even buy my bunny a stocking. He moves it all around the floor then wants the goodies removed and put in his treat bowl.
