District attorney requests to be recused from prosecuting case

The district attorney in the Duke lacrosse sexual assault case, Mike Nifong, has asked the state attorney general’s office to appoint a special prosecutor to take over the case.

this special prosecutor will hopefully drop charges very soon.Dont get me wrong in that if these guys had been guilty they should have fried but the evidence is not there for this to continue as a case!

In north carolina prosecutors are protected by prosecutorial immunity he cant be charged with any crime but he can be disbarred

What a coward! He is not going to personally be responsible for dropping the charges. Talk about hiding behind a robe. lol. I hope he is not given a recuse from the case and forced to publically drop the case.

living here in NC and being only an hour from the case it has gotten lots of attention and to see how he used this to gain political ground for his re-election should make anyone question his ethics.Just today a Duke professor resigned because of the universities desicion to allow the boys to come back to school.She stated several reasons but mostly that the school was not treating the boys as if they may be guilty or something i would have to refind the article.

A interesting note is that the boys refused re-admittance until the case was fully resolved as to not disrupt the campus now that shows some class that maybe Nifong could learn from
