Thanks to electronic W-2's and electronic filing online, I am! :) And, since I'm in Texas, I only had to file federal, not state.

Now I can sit back, relax, watch Grey's Anatomy, and wait for my return...which is also being sent electronically...and watch the procastinators squirm until mid-April. Isn't modern technology great? :)
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P

It is easier to file early when you recieve the necessary documents before the end of January too, unlike me.

Got my W-2 two weeks ago, went to H&R Block a week ago, got a rapid refund, and spent it. Thank you very much.

The kids really needed some new clothes, new winter coats, shoes, etc, so that's what we got.

Now about two days ago we got a 1099-M for some dividends on an insurance policy. It's only like $30, but I guess we'll have to do an amended return now.

Capital Gains taxes are ridiculous. You take the risk to make investments, and Uncle Sam takes half of the profits away.

Sorry. No, I haven't filed yet. Still waiting for some paperwork to arrive in the mail.

I never understood why they don't just lump capital gains in with other income. The capital gains tax is currently more punitive than regular income tax. AT the same time, I don't think investment gains should be tax free. If they were tax free, then you'd have a situation where the wealthiest people of all, those who make their income primarily from investment capital gains, pay no taxes while wage earners shoulder the entire load.
