3 yr old Marcus Fiesel murdered, foster parents convicted

I believed this foster couple, for a few days. Then when the little boy's trace or himself couldn't be found, you began to suspect this foster couple. At the very least, I didn't trust the foster father, from the very beginning he did not show enough emotion, IMHO. He even smirked when describing how Marcus would wander off in the past. The way he talked that first day in the park, it was if he was describing a lost pet, not a lost child.
I just don't think I'll ever trust a parent or family member again, if they say their child is missing. I will immediately suspect them. And if I'm wrong, that's okay but this case has taught me, we can all be manipulated. A person can fake passing out (what we know the foster mother did).

Word is that the foster parents have indeed been charged with murder in Clermont County, Ohio, according to local news outlets. They were arraigned in the last hour or so on the charges and plead not guilty.

WLWT says on the condition that she cooperates, the live-in girlfriend will not be charged.

Update - the foster couple are behind bars, both held on 10.1 million, in Clermont County. One has a trial date for February and the other, March I believe. Both are requesting for a change in venue, claiming they'll never get a fair trial. Their families are afraid to go out in public, according to local message boards I read (and the thread on Court TV's boards, which has grown to 36 pages by now).
So far the live-in girlfriend is their key witness and isn't charged. The latest article today states the tiny bones left behind from when the foster father burned the foster boy's body (at least 3 attempts to destroy evidence) are too small, to extract DNA to nail them on the evidence at hand.
To those following this story, pray prosecutors have enough to go on. Never has a local murder so deeply saddened our community. There hasn't been a day I haven't thought of Marcus Fiesel. RIP Marcus.

Just wanted to update this thread, since many here were hoping for a good outcome, then horrified as all of us were to realize the foster parents bound him with packing tape and wrapped him in a blanket, leaving him in a closet for 2 days. I just don't know how you expect anyone to survive such an heinous act. Since this child was 2/3's of their monthly income (he was special needs, giving the foster couple $1000 more per month for his "care", I use that word loosely) they say they probably didn't intend for him to die. He had been bound before in a similar manner.

Mary....I can tell your heart is still breaking....
So many stories such as this coming out...most of the victims are unwanted children discarded by their real parent(s).
I wonder if the orphanage of past years would better suit these children? Seems like they would stand a much better chance of survival than some placements that are made now. Fortunately....there ARE some homes where these kids are loved, encouraged, and helped to be successful......p

Petal - it is. I haven't cried so much and for so long, for a child I never knew. Multiply that by thousands, here in our town. Everyone is outraged this went on and from all we know this child never had a kind adult in his life. The real mother shut him in his room, for hours. He was eventually removed from her "care", along with his 2 siblings. Eventually placed with this foster couple. The foster father was quoted as saying he wanted to make a difference in a children's lives. That's all documented, since the placement papers have been released. There's a gag order now, so the couple's attorney's cannot speak about the case.
Many have wondered if group homes or orphanages would be better. At least the children could be monitored better. This one wasn't or the couple sure pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. They fooled everyone, our Ham. county prosecutor has said. Calling them evil. He's got that right.
This article today saddened me b/c they burned his body so many times, that there's only a handful of bones left, the longest is only an inch long. And making certain this was Marcus' body, from DNA is probably not possible now.
Thanks for the kind words.

Feb. 11 Update: Liz Carroll, foster mother of murdered 3 yr old Marcus Feisel, begins her trial tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 12 in Clermont County, OH (near Cincinnati). Extensive section in my Sunday paper. I know a few S2K members were following this extremely tragic story as we believed Liz when she told authorities Marcus was missing last August (he was already dead by then). Liz's husband and foster father, David Carroll Jr., begins his trial in March. Proscecution's star witness, Amy Baker, live-in girlfriend to both Carrolls (yes you read that correctly), is not charged (yet, if details in these articles are proven to be true). All I know is, this case has literally broken the hearts of so many in my community/city and we want justice. Marcus never seemed to have anyone decent in his young life or shown sincere parental love.

As the trial wraps up, I'll post another update.
I still cry over this murder. I believe I always will. RIP Marcus.

Jeremy - I prayed justice would prevail and it did. A just outcome to a terrible tragedy. So sad, it brings many to tears (myself included). After Liz's sentencing, we have her husband's trial in March.
RIP Marcus Fiesel.
The verdict has received national attention again:

Now we wait to see if her husband will take the plea bargain. His atty. has had that offer extended over the weekend. He has to decide by Monday if they'll go to trial. I'd like to see him receive the maximum sentences, but with a plea bargain he'd ultimately serve less time.
But the bottom line here is the little boy that was tortured and murdered. The judge made mention of this today, that she never displayed any remorse for his horrific death. Even up to the bitter end, she never focused on what he went thru before he died. Well, now reality is sinking in, I'm sure. She was being transported to Marysville, OH to an all women's prison.

I know you're right sunny. Most in my town are glad she was found guilty but we cannot forget that sweet child's face either. It seems as if both the foster mother and father's families are extremely dysfunctional, and on top of that their live in girlfriend's as well. They've mothered and fathered other children as well, all in foster care now themselves. This story, murder and trial was the stuff of a Jerrry Springer show many said. And sadly, Liz herself and her mother appeared on that show, a long time ago! For seedy affairs in the family (I won't even go into it all).
I'm just so glad I was raised with morals. These 3 (couple and girlfriend) have milked the system, not working, taking from social services and then not providing decent care!
I guess you can tell this case has my emotions pretty raw right now. We were all talking about it at work and near tears, again.
Thanks for your post and prayers so long ago, that young Marcus be found safe. Now he is firmly in Heaven, in a very special place, IMHO.
Court TV's message boards have at least 7 or 8 topics about this case. One had to be closed, it became so argumentative.

I sincerely hope David Carroll does NOT take the deal. He doesn't deserve it.
There will NOT be any plea bargains in Hamilton County, according to its prosecutor, Joe Deters. He also praised Clermont County jurors in this Enquirer article:
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ ... /702220401
And in a development related to the Enquirer's coverage as well as the jurors, more than 30 readers cancelled subscriptions after seeing the names, occupations, and marital statuses of the jurors on the case published in today's paper. The complaints seem to stem from concern for the jurors' safety.

I sincerely hope he doesn't take it either, that would be the easy way out. I just read that there were subscription cancellations and also reader's letters in the morning paper today. I know what these 12 jurors are afraid of - the foster couple's relatives, the live-in girlfriend Amy Baker and her relatives. All all dysfunctional people, many prone to violence and criminal behavior. People you would not want to be in line with in Kroger's or stopped at a traffic light next to. I'd like to reassure these 12 brave and honorable jurors, if I ever get a chance to meet one of you, I will shake your hand and say thank you.
I heard a rumor Amy Baker was arrested either Tuesday or Wednesday night. For what I don't know. Her last offense was providing alcohol to a 15 yr old child!
They're all scum, IMHO. The horrors Marcus and all the children in that household must have endurred......it all still breaks my heart and always will.

The deal has been taken OFF the table officially by the prosecutor's office. However, they may entertain a new deal if approached by the defense.
