This world is so messed up!

Whoever did this unspeakable, horrible crime knew what this dog looked like, either by pictures on a flyer or as wxmann_91 pointed out, knew the family well. This poor excuse for a human being searched then for the dog and did this to an innocent animal. That is what is sick here!

When I started this thread, I wanted to use a different word for "messed" up. And even said it outloud when reading the article. Of course I couldn't type it here.

I just don't know what the answer is anymore. When I saw this article link, I glanced down at news stories of the day. Another was of a Grandmother who pimped her grandkids out, another of a couple who wanted to sell their 5 yr old for s*x in exchange for pot, yet another tragic end to the story of the missing 6 yr old down south somewhere.....the list went on and on. That is what prompted me to title this thread what I did. Sometimes the news is just so alarming and tragic, you either want to hide your head in the sand or you want to do good deeds (I'm back to spreading good deeds today). Yesterday I wanted to just forget the world is this messed up.

Sometimes you honestly wonder if good people like we all are, are greatly outnumbered by people who did this horrible crime. You start to look at strangers differently. Wondering - what's this person's story? And I don't want to be judgemental (what I'm against, basically) but you begin to suspect people more and more.

I'm done. Sorry to rant on but hey, I did start this topic!

That is great! Mississippi has really disappointed me on the animal abuse. There is a bill on the "hill" named "Buddy's Law" that would make animal abuse or neglect a felony. So far, it has not been passed.

I passed this thread up a few times after reading a few of the replies because I knew it had to be bad.
I finally read the aritcle today. I swar I don't understand why anyone would want to hurt an innocent animal.
As I have said before I would rather see some worthless human die than an innocent animal. And what they
did after they killed the dog is just the cruelest thing I have heard in a long time. I can't imagine how she
felt.

I really could not bring myself to read the article. Since I am such a huge animal lover and have such a soft spot for animals. But, it came on the news in the breakroom while I was eating lunch at work. And the tears were just rolling down my face. How could anyone be so cruel to an innocent dog?

I dont know who could do this execpt a very sick disturbed person or persons. I hope to God they catch this _____(insert word here). And the more I think about this happening, the madder I get. My thoughts and prayers are with that girl and her family.

I can almost bet it was an ex-boyfriend who wanted to get his revenge.

1) Whoever killed the dog must know that she was close to the dog, and where her house was

wxmann_91 - turns out, you were right.

But here's my next question - why would a Grandmother allow a 17 yr old Granddaughter to date a 24 yr old man? Right there, I had major red flags going up. Maybe this girl was hard to control. Still, that is no reason at all to torture an innocent animal! I would be making sure this girl doesn't date for a while and if so, guys her own age. Sorry, but that's just the mom in me (college should be her main goal, IMHO).

Man held on suspicion of terrorist threats in killing of ex-girlfriend's pet

MINNEAPOLIS - A man suspected of cutting the head off a teenage girl’s dog and leaving it at her front door in a gift-wrapped box was in jail Friday on suspicion of terrorist threats.

The 24-year-old man, who was not immediately charged, used to date Crystal Brown, the girl’s grandmother said. Crystal, 17, immediately told police she suspected him because he expressed jealousy after she ended a relationship with him and dated someone else, her grandmother Shirley Brown said.

“I think I can sleep a lot better now,” said Crystal, who found Valentine’s Day candy and a garbage bag containing her pet’s head in the box. “It will make me feel way safer. Now we can walk around the whole block.”

Police said the man lived a few blocks from the home Crystal shares with her grandmother.

“He was a neighbor. He ate at my table. I’ve given him rides to work,” Shirley Brown said. “I befriended this kid.”

Crystal was devastated last month when Chevy, her 4-year-old Australian shepherd mix, went missing. Two weeks later, the gift box addressed to Crystal was found at her front door.

Janet Hafner, a spokeswoman for the Ramsey County attorney’s office, said the man may be charged Friday. If so, he would make his first court appearance later in the day.

Crystal has a new puppy, named Diesel. Her grandmother said they are bonding after just a few short weeks.

“That dog’s only 10 weeks old, and she’s already got him sitting up and shaking hands,” Shirley Brown said. “That’s just Crystal — she’s always loved animals.”

The case drew widespread media attention. The television show “America’s Most Wanted” posted the case on its Web site, and donations pushed a $2,500 reward offered by the Humane Society of the United States to $20,000.

Dale Bartlett, the Humane Society’s deputy manager for animal cruelty issues, said it’s the most generous response the organization has ever seen to an award. He said the Browns could themselves be eligible for the award, since they apparently led police to the suspect.

“After what they’ve been through, I can’t think of anyone I would rather see the award go to,” Bartlett said. He said that determination will be made after a conviction in the case, with input from investigators who worked on the case.

What is he doing dating a child is right. He needs some help. MN will probably give him little jail time and get him some counseling.. Nice to see they busted him.
