Yes, I've raised two daughters as a single parent. If their father would have talked to them like this just one time, it would have been the last time. I sometimes think verbal abuse has a more lasting pain than physical abuse.

I agree and when it is done and said like he did it, it is meant to do nothing but demean and belittle and destroy self esteem. That is the last thing any 12 yr. old needs.

I'd like to offer congratulations to all those stellar parents who never said a disparaging word to their children in anger. Good for you. Alas, I am not one of them. Thankfully, I didnt have a shrewish ex to sell tapes of those conversations to the exploitative tabloid press.
