Glad you and your family are ok. My son and his wife lived just south of the intersection of Scripps Parkway and Pomerado back when the Cedar Fire hit four years ago. Houses were lost just a couple blocks away.
This time, my younger son and his wife live down in Eastlake. They missed the fire by a couple of miles.
Sounds like you fared ok considering what "could have been."
Both my sons are scheduled to tee off at the Doubletree golf course along I-15 tomorrow morning, and I guess it is still open. They feel guilty in a sense, but this is the last time they will see each other until next year sometime.
Anyway...glad to hear you are safe. Scary things, those fires, and I am still concerned about the fire wrapping its way back toward the cost by Viejas and out of south Alpine. Good luck to you along the way.
Steve

NORTH COUNTY -- The northern and eastern edges of the Poomacha fire burning in the Pala area remain among the "more active if not most active" fire areas in the county, a fire official said Friday afternoon.
At a televised afternoon news briefing, CalFire Chief Rick Hutchinson said the Poomacha fire, which has burned 39,900 acres, has moved into the Agua Tibia Wilderness area, If it is able to cross Nate Harrison Truck Trail in the area, the possibility of it moving through Palomar Mountain "is still very real," Hutchinson said.
"It is making some fairly good runs and control is difficult," Hutchinson said.
A county spokeswoman said shortly before 5 p.m. Friday that firefighters were still successfully holding the fire line and the blaze had not crossed the truck trail.
The Poomacha and Witch fires merged are among five blazes still burning in San Diego County. Officials said at the afternoon news briefing that firefighters are making progress, but the county is in a combined fire "response and recovery mode."

he should still be punished in the manner I suggested earlier. If he is old enough to start the fire, he is old enough to face the consequences

I noticed they didn't even release the age so it could be as young as say 4 years old.

I don't think he should be punished so harshly. It doesn't look like he intended to start a wildfire. Just doing something stupid.
