Donating blood tomorrow :)

#1 Postby MusicCityMan » Tue Nov 06, 2007 5:16 pm

Tomorrow.. I'm doing something I have never done..

For the 1st time.. I am going to donate some of my blood. The Blood Bank will have 1 of its blood mobiles at my Wal Mart tomorrow for a blood drive and I will be donating blood shortly after I get out of work tomorrow afternoon.

This may sound silly.. I'm actually a little scared lol.. I am PETRIFIED of a needle lol.. But I'll be a brave big boy and take it like a man lol..

I'm kinda excited about it.. yay lol :)

I have given over five gallons of blood and two gallons of platelets. The worst part of the whole thing are the questions not giving the blood. Remember not to look when they stick you, and you will be okay. It all depends on who you get to draw the blood. I've had some great and some that poked for two hours before getting the vein. It really doesn't hurt, its more like pressure. Also, if you smoke do not light up right away after giving or you could pass out. Remember to drink a lot of fluids the rest of the day and try and not lift anything too heavy for a few hours. Good luck and God Bless you for giving and saving a life.

I can't add anything to what Cookiely said. I have given blood a total of 10 times and each time I felt wonderful, spiritually, after doing so.

My company, Showboat, will be having a blood drive on December 4 and I plan on giving then. This will be my second time this year.

Remember, when you are finished giving blood, make sure you do have some juice and something to eat. Take your time - there's no rush to leave. Make sure that you feel steady and ready to get back to work. Above all, ENJOY THE FEELING after you gave blood! :D

i've given blood twice in my life, both times i had the kinda faint feeling during the actual process, but afterwards, i was fine. If there is anything material that you can give in your life that is really rewarding, the gift of giving blood is that thing.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Wonderful gesture! My oldest daughter has donated blood and she was so proud to do so. And she hates needles!

As for moi, I had 2 blood transfusions 8 years ago, after surgery and I'm told I can never donate blood now......bummer. I don't mind the needle stick.

But you can donate for me John! Proud of you.

That's an excellent thing to do John!!

If you're nervous, don't be. Sure it may have a slight sting, but you won't be able to feel it otherwise. I remember my first time doing this, my church was hosting a blood drive in 2003.

Matter in fact; over the summer, I've made it into the 2 Gallon Hall of Fame status. 8-) And on the morning of Saturday Nov. 17, I'm gonna make my next appointment with Carter BloodCare.

Take advantage of the free Nutter Butters! :)

Seriously, I give a "Double" every 4 months. It's an easy way to help the community.

I'm proud to be a blood donor.. :)

besides the lil sting at the beginning, it really didn't hurt at all.. I just kept squeezing the little ball thingy they put in my hand..

Plus the whole time, I was fascinated and watching the blood go right thru the tube and into the little bag thingy..

Plus.. I think i'll do this every once in a while. I consider it quite an honor to donate blood.

As for fainting or ne of that.. I didn't. I've been drinking a lot of water and juices since yesterday..

Work today seemed fine.. So, no issues..

everyone who is elegible, should donate. Not really any excuse not to. Just a way to give a little back to the community

LOL!

When I was in college, we used to go out drinking on the night after we gave blood. The theory was less blood = cheaper drunk. Boy was I stupid. :D
