Might cause minor damage; no real threat in that area from less than a six.

Earthquake strikes off Oregon Coast

PORTLAND, Ore. - An earthquake registering a preliminary magnitude of 5.8 occurred off the Oregon coast Monday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Washington, the epicenter was about 158 miles west of Bandon and happened at 12:32 p.m. It centered about 6 miles underground.

There were no immediate reports of anyone feeling the earthquake.

Jon Connolly, the seismology lab coordinator at the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at the University of Washington in Seattle, says Monday morning's quake was not strong enough to trigger any sort of tsunami warning.
