If anyone knows how to move pictures files from Flickr (Yahoo) to Picasa (Google) without having to d/l them from Yahoo and uploading to Picasa, please let me know. Right now I want to backup my pictures at Picasa. But if this deal goes through, I will be deleting my Flickr account.

I wish I'd have bought some YHOO yesterday. It went up ~50% overnight on this news.

I will be staying on Flickr until the end, if it vanishes, then I'll have to move on. I have heard that Microsoft does not like the idea of Creative Commons, something that Flickr has made popular.

I'm very worried about that. I'm also worried that they will destroy the cross-platform nature of Flickr and Yahoo! mail. Also, I hate Hotmail, so the Yahoo e-mail accounts will be transfered to new Gmail accounts. The only good thing about that would be that I wouldn't have to pay for .pop access to my mail from those accounts.

I am definitely going to downgrade my Flickr account from a Pro account to standard account and back it up at Pisca or Smugmug. I just need an easy, non-time consuming way to do it.

Well, one of the reasons I'm going to stick with Flickr until the end is in hopes that Flickr will do something in response to this merger to help people with large galleries either adjust or move elsewhere; unlike Microsoft, the people who run Flickr are actually somewhat human.

Lovely, I've had a Yahoo email account for many years.

Yahoo might not do this people. It's a very big offer, and mergers bring a lot of money, but many of the people in Yahoo are human, and would not mix well with the 'Soft execs.

It may not mix well, but I don't think Microsoft would really care, they'll act like it at first then boot the ones they don't want. It's the bottom line that they really care about.

It's all about the ad revenue, the search engine and Google. Microsoft has a history of destroying the companies they buy. They are buying users, not services.

Crap, I just realized Yahoo owns http://del.icio.us/ .. . there go my bookmarks. . I don't like this at all.
