Office 2007?

#1 Postby coriolis » Sat Mar 29, 2008 8:14 am

Has anyone made the switch yet?

We're still using 2003 at work, but I was ready to get Office at home, so I was forced to get 2007.

I'm not crazy about the ribbons so I customized the toolbars to get the functions that I use a lot. Of course it was acting badly and MS has already come out with Service Pack 1 for it which helped considerably.

Does anyone use One Note, Groove, or InfoPath? I noticed that they try to run in the background which slowed down my computer (which never should have had Windows XP installed on it, let alone Office-but thats another story). It seems perfectly happy with these things turned off.

Best ever. I use it everyday and never had any problems.

I use Open Office exclusively now. It's compatible with M$ Office but it's free. :)

You say you make all these images using PowerPoint 2007, I don't have that program but I use older versions of it. Why do you make images using a slide show program, and what new features make you use that over a program like photoshop, GIMP, etc.?

I made my avatar with MS Paint. :P

Then again, all I did was changer "Twister" to "Cyclone1". Either way, I have Photoshop, GIMP, and Powerpoint 2007.

I'll make a more excellent avatar one day, with Photoshop.

Oh and, Office 2007 is excellent, I love it.

I have GIMP and OpenOffice. I'm not dropping $150 for Office.

I actually didn't know about Open Office. I'll use that for my currently Officeless computer.

Since the mid 1990s, it seems like every update makes Word harder to use for the casual user, and makes Excel generally better, but trickier to build plots with.

I made the jump to Office 2007 at home shortly after it came out. It still messes with me since we still use 2003 at work (until the end of the month).

Speaking of image editing... I'm a friend of Photoshop CS3. It's better than gov't cheese.

I use NeoOffice and Google Docs for everyday non-work related word processing and spreadsheets. I have Office 2003 installed to use for work-related documents, except for presentations (use Keynote for that). I use Gimp and Pixelmator for any image editing.

I think you'll be happy with it. I've been using it exclusively for years now. :)
