Arrest made after perilous high-speed chase
HALTOM CITY (WFAA ABC 8) - Police arrested a man after a high-speed car pursuit that began in Arlington turned into a foot chase in Haltom City.
The chase started after police said Martin Beltran, 24, sped past a cop while going 29 mph over the speed limit along Interstate 35 and Garden Acres. The vehicle led police from that Arlington area into a residential area in Haltom City.
Along the way, the suspect swerved around other vehicles, crossed through a home's yard, brushed into a parked vehicle and crushed a stop sign. At speeds hitting up to 100 mph at some points, he also ran around spiked strips placed by officers on roads and through a train crossing arm.
