Well we had our orientation and second-to-last walk-through with the construction manager today and it went very well. I tried really hard to find major issues for them to correct, but there just weren't any. I think it helps that we visited the site 3 times a week throughout construction and brought concerns to the builder as they arose. I also had a very thorough third-party frame inspection done before they put the drywall up. Today all we found were minor cosmetic issues overlooked by the construction manager on his walk-throughs. I get one more walk-through at the end of this week to ensure that all details on the punch-list are addressed, then we close on Monday. Sadly we can't move until the end of the month, but at this point we'll manage.

I'm very excited about moving back out of our apartment, especially since we've discovered how much we hate apartment living! Best news is that this house, while literally more than twice the size and replacement cost of our old home, is actually significantly cheaper to insure because of the more up-to-date building codes (my old house was built in 1993 before today's much stricter codes were in effect).
Incidentally, none of the other homes that were for sale in my old neighborhood when I sold have sold yet. On the other hand, in our new neighborhood they've sold all but about 5 lots out of 140 originally available. If you're looking for a house, it's a heck of a good time to buy.
