Workers hurt at Cowboys stadium site

ARLINGTON (WFAA ABC 8) — At least three people were injured in a crane accident at the construction site of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington Thursday afternoon.

A CareFlite helicopter landed at a Wal-Mart store near the site to transport one person to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

The other workers were transported to hospitals by ambulance.

Worker dies at Cowboys stadium construction site

DALLAS (WFAA ABC 8/AP) -- An electrician working at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium died Saturday when he touched a high-voltage line, the second serious accident at the construction site in less than a week.

The man was standing on a ladder and performing an electrical test when he touched the power line, said Neal Strasser, a battalion chief with the Arlington Fire Department.

The man became wedged between the ladder and the stadium wall. A co-worker carried him to the ground and tried to revive him, Strasser said.

Inspectors must be doing a bad job because it's like every week one or two giants crane comes crashing to the ground and people are dying. The government must look into this more closely and see if everyone is doing their job.

My late father was a retired crane operator..did it for most of his life. I remember him saying time after time that all it takes in one slipup, one moments lapse of attention, and you can have a major catastrophe occur. That is one of the most dangerous pieces of heavy equipment to operate.

Someone needs to be held accountable. It seems that they're putting people on these cranes who aren't experenced enough.
