A Shortened Trip to AZ

#1 Postby Dee Bee » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:28 am

I flew to Tucson Friday morning for a family [in-laws] wedding which took place Sunday evening -- without us. By mid-day Saturday, the TS Fay reports indicated we might not be able to get back to SoFla late Monday night as originally planned. So (for $150 each to change tickets) we got Continental's last 2 seats out of Tucson to West Palm on Sunday and arrived home via Houston around midnight yesterday. Since my husband is the city manager of our town, it was fairly important for him to be back, considering that Fay's projections have danced across the state several times during the past 5 days. We did drive like crazy all over the Tucson-Green Valley area on Saturday to see as many family members as possible [although not the bride :( ] . I've decided to stay home from my office today to catch up on rest [I always have an extremely difficult re-adjusting from western time zones] and laundry [in case we lose power during the heavier squalls that are predicted for tonight]. I can keep in touch with the office online, although I had already submitted paperwork for the day off as a vacation day. Of course, I'll be checking the boards for Fay info as the day progresses. If the rain is as heavy as anticipated, the college may close down tomorrow.

sorry you missed the wedding Dee Bee. I sure hope this thing does stay to our west. I am getting somewhat worried though.

We're still experiencing some shower bands and gusts, but our part of Boynton Beach hasn't had major street flooding or persistent power outages. However, my sister in Port St. Lucie and my daughter in Vero Beach have been watching their lakes and streets fill during the day.

Since the college was closed today, I've added an extra day off to my long weekend!
