School is back in session this week

#1 Postby stormy1970al » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:07 am

Well looks like all three of my little girls are back in school. The baby started kindergarten this year. I can't believe she is already in kindergarten. Hard to believe we have already gone back to school. Where did summer go?

There are no summers anymore. School is starting earlier and earlier. Public schools here started last friday, 8/8. Why they start them so early in August is beyond me. Isn't august statistically the hottest month? And our schoolboard complains about not having any money. Duh...cut out all the excessive holidays during the year and less teacher in-service days and you could start later.

So how does it feel being by yourself during the day? Lonely?

Our schools don't start for two more weeks. State finally mandated a later start date when some of our districts were starting in early August(like the 8th or 9th.).

Here in Polk County FL, schools starts on Aug 18 and gets out for the summer next year on June 4, 2009. I get a list of all holidays that the schools get because I am a school crossing guard for the elementary school behind my house. My kids went to it when they were little. But now they are all grown and two of them have a child each.I am a grandmother to two boys ages 3 and 8. The 8 year old boy and his mother live with me and my husband. The other grandson lives with his dad and mom down in Key West FL.My son is stationed there for the US Navy.

Now that school is starting again , I will be getting paid again ! I only get paid while school is in session for the year.

My daughter was starting kindergarten when Andrew struck the louisiana coast causing school to be closed. My daughter started her senior year of college when Gus struck the louisiana coast causing school to be closed. I just thought that was an interesting tidbit.
