School Project Gone Wrong!!!

#1 Postby bfez1 » Thu Jul 24, 2003 10:49 am

A class of elementary students wanted to make a planter to take home and wanted to have a plant in it that was easy to take care of, so it was decided to use cactus plants. The students planted the cactus seeds in the planters and they grew nicely but unfortunately they were not allowed to take the planters home.

A look at the photo below explains why.

The cactus plants were removed and small ivy plants replaced them and the children were then allowed to take them home.

The cactus plants had seemed like a good idea at the time...

I've seen this one a long time ago! That's hysterical! The children, unfortunately, got a lesson that the teachers didn't anticipate to teach! :o

I saw it too. I am sure those children did not see anything but a cactus. I wonder how the teacher explained to those kids why they had to remove the cactus. LOL.

I remember getting that e-mail with the photo a while back also.

I found this at snopes.com

Origins: This amusing photo had been circulated on the Internet for years prior to someone's May 2001 invention of the backstory quoted above. No, there wasn't any such class of cherubic, apple-cheeked youngsters headed up by a naive teacher; that part was all some jokester's flight of fancy. A closer examination of the photo shows these botanical offerings aren't in a classroom but what looks like a warehouse. It's a stock photo, in other words; the planters are shipped with cactus as shown, and the effect is deliberate.

Moreover, cactus planters of similar design have been vended for many a moon. You're likely to encounter them at swap meets and flea markets where the humor of some offerings is a bit coarse.

Maybe that's why a lot of people are scared of clowns.

Would have made a "prickly" subject to write a report on. I saw that same photo a few years back, but the cacti looked shorter then!
