Interesting Topic

#1 Postby southerngale » Tue Dec 30, 2008 3:16 am

I opened Off Topic and started looking around. I was starting to wonder if we had a new forum, World News, that I didn't know about. Nope, says Off Topic. :P I was thinking we needed more topics to post in, that aren't just news stories. So I tried to think of an interesting topic, and nothing came to mind. So I just started a thread, titled it Interesting Topic to lure everyone in, and then proceeded to bore you to death.

Anyway, it's kinda chilly out. Not cold enough for snow, though. And after a few days of rain, it's dry now, anyway. I miss the snow that fell on December 10th and 11th and am wishing hard for more. I'm going to make an even bigger snowman! Frick and Frack's snowfall thread worked a few weeks ago. Time to create that magic again.

I just saw a commercial advertising a hamburger. I don't eat much fast food, but when I do, it's usually some kind of grilled chicken sandwich, Taco Bell, or Subway. I like homemade hamburgers, though. We grill them occasionally. Add all the fixins.... yummy!!

I need to get a Wet-Dry Shop-Vac. I think it could come in handy.

Remember Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Did you know he's hosting a new gameshow on The Gameshow Network? Do you care? It's called Catch 21. I just happened to stumble across that. Yo home to Bel-Air.

Only 360 days until Christmas.

I would call these jumbled thoughts - normal! Post holiday random thoughts.....

I'm having them too!

I long for a few quiet hours just to myself. I hope to steal away to the library or something (free!)......cause I can't really shop, tight budget, dang......but the library is free and I do enjoy reading magazines for an hour or two (current releases......). Again, did I mention this escape is FREE!

I also long to just sit and watch a movie I've watched over and over again AND have no one give me a hard time for it either!

The other day Home Alone (the first one) was on. I will admit right now - I love this movie. Don't ask me why, maybe a part of me wishes I had had a son but M. Culkin is just so darn cute! Those facial expressions.......he gets me everytime. And the thugs/crooks - they keep messing up and stepping on nails or falling for some lame trap Kevin sets for them. LOL Hilarious antics....

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is another movie I could escape to.

Finally, I ran across Independence Day playing yesterday (why you ask yourself, over the holidays, LOL).....I don't really care why it was airing - I love this escape of a movie too. I have many favorite parts, when the Pres realizes there is an Area 51......David cracks the alien's code and give their computers a virus, the pres pilots a fighter jet!

Yes, I do need a day to myself - obviously!

Two more parties to get thru - one my daughter is hosting on NYE (non alcohol) and the other a NYD invite for us. And then we can RELAX. And begin the xmas decoration, tree, lights takedown blitz.....

And so another holiday season will have come and gone. This year I never really got into the holiday spirit. I kept expecting to find it or something would jar me out of my trance but nothing ever did. It's not too late....maybe something will yet. LOL

More random thoughts.....I like this topic idea.

It can be anything we want it to be. Or nothing at all. To steal from Seinfeld, it could be a topic about NOTHING! he he

I miss the topics where we found out tidbits about our members or little stories of their lives. We used to converse and interact in the threads now i find we c&p alot of articles (i'm guilty of doing it too).

I began taking down my Christmas decorations this morning. :( I got 4 big containers filled with my santas. Next is taking the tree decorations down. It's always so depressing when the decorations are taken down but at least i'll be able to put up my mardi gras decorations! Throw me something mister!!!!!! Our mardi gras ball is coming up soon...january 10.

My Christmas decorations started coming down this morning, but the tree wont be coming down until New Years day. Thats a tradition in our house since I was very small. I wish I could put up Mardi Gras decorations.

Miss Mary, I love Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, too. I am embarrassed to say that I've never seen Independence Day. I think I own the DVD, too. I have a lot of them that I've purchased, but haven't gotten around to watching yet. One day, I'll have time to sit around and watch movies all day and finally "catch up," though. I hope I'm still alive when that happens. lol
Until then, I think I'll try to start sneaking one in here and there. It's been so hectic lately, I haven't even had much time for that, but I think I'm going to make the time. How about a New Year's Resolution to watch at least one of my unwatched DVD's a week? hehe

We don't usually take our Christmas decorations down until sometime after New Year's Day. We like everything still up for New Year's Eve and we're having a party here. I live outside the city limits, so everyone likes to come here so we can shoot off half a million dollars in fireworks. Ok, slight exaggeration, but those things are expensive!

Frick might shoot my eye out, but I've never really gotten into Mardi Gras. I've been to some Mardi Gras parades over the years (here in Texas, mind you), but that's about it. Image

Same here for taking the decorations down after 3 Kings Day since that's the Filipino tradition derived from Spain.

Hey, who here records a movie or TV show only to delete it because you never found the time to watch them?'

Guilty as charged.....LOL

This happens to me oh once or twice a month. Best laid plans and all that......

Kelly - you MUST make time for Independence Day. Since I know you enjoy Sci-fi (Lost buddy that you are......LOL), mark my words, you will like this movie! Don't forget you have it......
