Anyone good a bugs/snakes?
I take my cat out a couple of times a day for grass and exercise and a little exploration. Well, Just a few minutes ago, I came inside to get a drink, when I went to go back out the door, there he was proud as can be with a big snake or millipede in its mouth waiting to come in the door. It was about 7-8" long. Anyway, I grabbed the thing and threw it across the back yard and brought the cat inside. Normally I encourage him to go find and catch things like the lizards and grasshoppers, but im not too sure about this one. I dont think this was anything to worry about. It was all black and had sections kind of like a millipede, but it was much larger. It's the first time I have come across one of these, I think. We may have seen one or two of these before digging quickly into the ground, but we arent too sure.
Anyone have any ideas?

He brought you a present and you didn't say thank you?

Re: Snake Millipede?
When I was young we had a cat that would go in the woods behind our house and catch snakes and bring them to the back door, lay them on the steps and howl till we came to the door to see what it was. A couple of times they were rattlers or coral snakes. I don't know how she never got bit, but she didn't. That is also where I learned my first curse word after listening to my mother scream it when she saw what the present the cat had brought was!!

Could it be a velvet worm? I think I saw one of them before, but it was rather small.

Did it look like any of these? http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/b/Juli ... e/genus/0/ These seem to be common in Europe and now Australia but it wouldn't be a big leap for them to be found in Florida (too many people release all kinds of strange things/pets there).

Re: Snake Millipede?

Looks very similar in size and looks. I would say this could be it, but if anyone finds anything that lives in FL that could be it as well. Not ruling anything out.

That thing looks like it could feed a family of four.
