Hi John,
My son’s fiancé is having her foot and half of her lower part of her left leg amputated on Thursday in Philadelphia. I know you have a large prayer network and I was hoping that you would send out a request for prayers – not only for her, but for my son who has handled everything from working 50-60 hours a week, grocery shopping, washing clothes, cooking dinner and taking care of their seven cats for the last 11 months and he is so very tired and trying so hard to be strong, but you know how Mom’s just know – well, I just know that he is on overload. He loves Christie very much and would do anything for her. Christie wants no family there on Wednesday night or after the surgery. I can’t afford the air ticket and a hotel bill too. Rich’s Dad is going up there – her lives a much more lavish lifestyle then I do for sure.
I’ll talk to you soon. I finally got over all my sicknesses and am starting to feel like a human again.
Love to you and Tony,
Kathie
Thanks

Prayers needed
This is from Kathy one of Mary's closet friends. She was with Mary at the end...Her daughter in law was a pedestrian hit by a car on a sidewalk she had been doing well but she got an infection. Please pray for her and her family. Thanks God bless

Some of already know that Christie made it through her amputation surgery by 10:15 this AM. This is the update that Rich, my son, sent to a list of friends, relative and people from Christie’s and his offices.
Please continue your prayers as the last three or four surgeries she really had a hard time with the pain meds and hallucinated, etc. Also that her leg heals quickly so she can be fitted for her new leg and foot ASAP so she can start her life again after 11 months.
I really appreciate everyone’s continuing prayers and good thoughts!
Love,
Kathie

I just wanted to shoot you all a quick note and let you know that Christie’s surgery went well today according to her Orthopedic doctor. She was in quite a bit of pain afterwards as they had some difficulty finding a good balance of pain medications. They were able to get her comfortable, though, later in the afternoon/early evening after they added an additional med to the morphine and epidural combination (I can’t remember the name of the additional med).
All in all she was in surprisingly good spirits (although the morphine probably helped a little with this) and said her first thought upon waking up after the surgery was that “today is the first day of her new life” and she immediately started looking forward to the Disney trip we’re planning on taking in December.
She’s currently in the Pavilion building – Room 900. I’m unsure how long she’ll be at Jefferson, though… She may only stay there through Saturday or Sunday provided she’s doing well. She may then need to go to Marlton Rehab for a couple of days… We’ll see how tomorrow goes – as that will probably have a lot to do with what her schedule is going to be.
Anyway, that’s about it for now… Thanks to everyone for all of your heartfelt thoughts, wishes, and prayers. I know that they helped (and continue to help)… Please feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call at 856-649-5261 if you have any questions, etc. Christie also has her phone with her in the hospital.
Thanks,
Rich
P.S. – please don’t reply to all in this email chain… I would BCC everyone to avoid this from being a possibility, but truthfully I think it helps to see the huge number of people who love Christie and are doing so much to help her make it through this difficult time.

Re: Prayers needed
Jefferson is a GOOD hospital. That's where my mother had her surgeyr and stayed when she had her aneurysm a 2 years ago.
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has the Rothman Institute - a very well respected Orthopedic surgery rehab center; http://www.jeffersonhospital.org/orthop ... 13144.html
She's in probably the best place for her situation. My prayers are going out to Christie.
