Recently, I stumbled upon a rather useful link at a website of a well known provider (Datacolor) of effective solutions for color correction.
Ever heard of the ICC (International Color Consortium)? Well, much like the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) promotes web standards, their purpose is "to promote the use and adoption of open, vendor-neutral, cross-platform color management systems."
To enable ICC profiles in Firefox 3.x (unfortunately, there's no solution for other browsers at the link), simply follow the instructions and presto! like magic, the words "Green", "Blue" and "Red" will be their correct colors and the photo will look normal.
It therefore begs the question, why doesn't Firefox 3 support ICC profiles by default?
