The Oakland A's have reached a $510,000 settlement with a male attorney suing them because he wasn't given a commemorative cap being handed out to women at an A's game on Mother's Day 2004.
Attorney Alfred G. Rava initiated a class-action lawsuit against the A's because, as a biological male, he was not given a plaid sun hat being handed out to the first 7,500 ladies arriving at the Mother's Day game.

Since it's a class action suit, male attendees of that game may come forward and claim $100. But it's not $100 cash, it's $50 plus 2-for-1 A's tickets and a Macy's gift card

What was the suit based on? If they stated that the first 7500 females were to receive the hats, he had no leg to stand on. BTW, I did not read the link. All I have to say is WHAT A LOAD OF STUFF!!

I think it's silly too, but it's an obvious case of gender discrimination. They should have just given him the hat.

So that means that when the Marlins give t-shirts to people in age range 12 and less, I can suit them because I won't receive a t-shirt because I'm 22?
If it was for the first 7500 females because it was Mothers' Day, I don't see the gender descrimination because he is a male.
Then in my example I can suit for age descrimination!!!
Give me a break!!!

I am biting my tongue very hard here as to what the young man should have done if he wanted a cap so bad.

You're right. You can sue. That doesn't mean you'll win. Age-discrimination is a lot trickier than gender discrimination. Right or wrong, rules regarding age discrimination are different for kids and seniors than they are for everyone in between.
