When I Grounded

#22 Postby Aslkahuna » Wed Aug 06, 2003 6:55 pm

my son, I also removed the game systems, TV, radio and any other entertainment capabilities from his room and locked them up. Grounded also meant that he could not leave his room except for school and meals or to go to the bathroom. He had no phone in his room so it was also easy to cut him off from that as well. The only thing he had left to amuse himself with were books and they weren't storybooks either.

Hmmm.......very interesting!

School starts for me the 18th. I certainly agree that high expectations need to established at the very beginning of school........and that means no cursing whatsoever.......from students OR instructors!!

It always has amazed me how some students can easily turn off the use of words that are unacceptable.......and that's the key........they need to be told that "those" words are unacceptable! My belief is that teachers teach much more than the expected subject matter........EVERYTHING they do, from their reactions to any given situation to their work ethics is carefully scrutinized by those impressionable minds! Such a great opportunity for both teachers and students if the teacher takes this responsibility seriously!

A few years ago, I overheard several female students talking about one of them f@rting........."I don't wish to hear about that..........it is NOT a word I want used here" I quipped. "Ya gotta be kiddin'" one replied....."we can't say f@rt here?!?"

"Nope......if MY kids can't say it.........YOU kids can't say it!" Later, several students came up and thanked me! (Aren't I a toughie!!??)...............p
