Oh yes......when I bought this place 19 years ago, there wasn't but one Ponderosa pine on the property, BTW.....the property is one acre in size. Most of these trees are decidous and small, 5-10 gallon size, most are slow growers with the exception of 15 SiouxLand Poplars and 5 Lambardi Pops.......that's also counting 10 Dwarf Alberta Spruce and 3 Dwarf Birds Nest Blue Spruce.

Is you plan to make it a wooded area? I'll bet the birds are happy to have places to nest.

LOL Karan!

Bestofour.....when I bought this place, I had ONE neighbor, that was it......now, I've got over 9 and most of them are VERY NOSEY!!! I like my privacy when I'm outside working, BBQ'ing etc.....I don't like the *fish bowl effect* "LOL!" Your probably wondering "Then why did you buy in a open meadow DUH?!" I love living in the mountains and pines, I just hate like hades raking pine needles from the Ponderosas. Another reason for all the trees, it's VERY, VERY windy here in the spring, most of the trees surround the house to serve as a wind break AND......I just love trees! My *pet tree* is the California Redwood we planted last year, it was an experiment by the nursery where we trade at and it's doing GREAT.....it was touch and go last winter, redwoods really can't take the below freezing temps like we get here, I mulched the heck out of the bottom of the trunk last winter......this spring and summer, the tree has experienced over 13" of new growth, once they are established, they are VERY fast growers! Can you imagine what the next generation of people are going to think about a redwood in Az??? "Now how in hades did THIS tree get here?" "LOL!"

13". that's significant growth. We live on a busy road and we planted Arizona (how 'bout that) Cypress along the front to block the noise. They grow 3 feet up and 3 feet out a year until they're about 15 feet high. They were in 3 gallon pots 2 years ago, and now they're over 8 feet tall. They aren't 8 feet wide though. All this rain we've had has really been a blessing for them. They have really blocked the noise too. We have a lot of oak trees, 15 pecan trees, and a couple cedars. The pecan trees are very soft trees and a lot of limbs break and fall. I'm with you about the privacy. Probably in 50 years someone will ask "wonder who this smart person was that planted this great redwood."

Dennis -

You sound like a person who perpetually picks up strays and gives them a home! I'm sure your hummingbirds will appreciate the addition to your yard. I like my privacy too. I think of my backyard my own personal "Eden". :D
