Microsoft Security Essentials

#1 Postby Stephanie » Sat May 01, 2010 6:47 pm

Does anyone here use this as their antivirus/antispyware PC protection? My S.O., Marty, uses it and it's free. He said that he's read a lot of good things about it.

I know that we have a lot of techies here that will give me good information on this. :)

I've been using it for months with no problems. Even on my older PC, it runs quietly in the
background and isn't a system hog like my previous Norton program. Of course, I also run
Super Anti-Spyware and MalwareBytes, as well. I'd say, so far, so good!

Yes, I use it too with good results. When you boot up your computer make sure the icon is green, not red, then you know it's active and can run. Sometimes (maybe when out of date or other) it turns red (off). I also strongly recommend the other anti ware that Breeze specifically mentions. I've cut out a lot of malware etc. of late. Still like my Mac better though, so slowly replacing.

I switched to MS Security Essentials last year, from Avast. It's free, fast, and effective. I've got it on all my Windows PCs at home and at work.
